Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has released the official notification for the recruitment of Generalist and Specialist Officers in various scales for 2026-27. A total of 291 vacancies are available across Generalist and Specialist Officer positions in JMGS Scale I, MMGS Scale II and MMGS Scale III. The IOB Recruitment 2026 online application process has started on 29 August 2026, and eligible candidates can submit their applications online until 15 September 2026. The recruitment includes positions such as Manager, Senior Manager and Assistant Manager in areas including Branch Management, IT, Information Security, Credit, Risk, Database Administration, Network Administration, Cyber Security and Security. The examination has separate timings for different sections.
Eligibility
The educational qualification and work experience requirements vary according to the post. Candidates should therefore check the specific requirements for the position they wish to apply for. Manager – Branch Management Candidates should have a graduation degree in any discipline from a Government-recognized university or an equivalent qualification. Applicants should also have 3 years of experience as an officer in a Scheduled Public Sector Bank or Scheduled Private Sector Bank, including at least 2 years of experience in branch banking. Experience as a Scale-I Branch Head is preferred. Manager – IT Candidates should possess one of the specified qualifications such as: B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, IT, Electronics & Communication or Electronics & Instrumentation OR MCA OR M.Sc. in Computer Science / IT Candidates require at least 5 years of post-qualification IT experience, including at least 3 years in a Banking/BFSI environment. Relevant technical experience is also required. Information Security / IT Security Posts Depending on the post, candidates may require qualifications such as B.E./B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech or MCA in relevant computer science, information technology, electronics, cyber security or information security disciplines, along with prescribed professional experience. Credit / Risk / Other Specialist Posts The qualification and experience requirements differ by position. Candidates should read the post-wise eligibility criteria in the official IOB Recruitment 2026 notification before submitting the application. Selection Process
The selection process consists of: 1. Online Examination 2. Personal Interview 3. Candidates who qualify in the online examination may be called for the interview after the bank's screening/shortlisting process. 4. The final merit list will give 80% weightage to the Online Examination and 20% weightage to the Interview.
